United Airlines has announced an additional flight to its route network: the first-ever direct flight from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to Medellín Airport (MDE) in Colombia.
Beginning November 13, 2024, this new service will streamline logistics and reduce transit times, providing seamless access to the vibrant South American market. United will operate direct flights from Houston to Medellin using our state-of-the-art Boeing 737 MAX8 aircraft. The journey will take approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes, connecting two dynamic cities with a shared passion for growth and opportunity.
Medellín is a thriving city with a diverse economy and strong air cargo demand. We anticipate transporting a range of in-demand products, including fresh flowers, local fruits, and textiles, as well as discovering even more commodities as we develop this market. Importantly, this new route will provide mid-sized and small farmers with a valuable shipping option to reach international buyers, supporting jobs and boosting the local economy.
Customers can easily book shipments through their usual channels, with freight forwarders coordinating with our local team for booking requests. Many forwarders are already familiar with the process, as they have established offices in Bogotá and branch offices in Medellín.
To further promote our services and engage with local businesses, our Local Cargo Manager, Andres Torres, will conduct in-person visits to Medellín. He’ll be available to introduce our offerings and address any questions from customers as we prepare for the station’s opening.
For more information about this exciting new route or to schedule a booking for your cargo, please reach out to Andres Torres at grp-cgoservice-mdeff-vm@united.com. Our dedicated team is ready to assist you, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for transporting your goods to Medellín.
