Every year, thousands of United employees spend time giving back to their communities through September of Service. Our employees’ dedication to service truly reflects the spirit of “good leads the way” as demonstrated by community service and environmental stewardship through a variety of impactful initiatives.

In Addison, IL, the ORD United Cargo Team revisited Habitat for Humanity, where they assembled and refurbishing furniture to support affordable housing projects. Their hard work and dedication were met with high praise, and the team is already planning other volunteer opportunities.

United Cargo’s Canadian crew rocked September of Service by teaming up with Daily Bread Food Bank to squash food insecurity. They sorted an impressive 2,828 lbs. of carrots—enough to feed 257 people for three days! “The team that supports Canada may be small in number, but we knew by working together we could massively amplify our impact,” said Hannah Roque, Country Sales Manager & KAM Cargo, “The importance of September 11th and the September of Service resonates strongly within the United Culture. We wanted to bring a small piece of that deep-rooted community service mindset north of the border, showing that good really does lead the way.”

At Willis Tower, the Cargo Corporate Support team assembled 200 Kynd Kits for unhoused migrant youth, showcasing our commitment to community service. The month’s activities concluded with the senior leadership team and customers participating in “Seeding the Future,” a sustainability initiative in Hawaii. This initiative focused on reforesting native plant life, where participants not only planted trees but also engaged in meaningful discussions about environmental stewardship.
