United Launches Three New Pacific Routes

Earlier this month, United Airlines announced three new destinations in its Pacific network: Bangkok, Thailand (BKK); Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam (SGN); and Adelaide, Australia (ADL). The addition further enhanced United’s ability to provide freight forwarders and shippers with more direct access to key markets across Southeast Asia and Australia.
Once these routes launch later this year, United will offer flights from the United States to 32 destinations in the Pacific region—four times that of any other carrier—solidifying the airline’s position as the operator of the most extensive international network.
Starting October 26, United will be the only U.S. carrier to serve Bangkok and Ho Chi Min City. Both routes will operate daily from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) via Hong Kong (HKG), using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. These new destinations will provide cargo customers with improved access to Thailand and Vietnam—high-demand hubs for textiles, technology, and perishables.
Beginning December 11—just in time for the Australian summer—United will launch its first-ever nonstop service between the U.S. and Adelaide, Australia, operating three times weekly from San Francisco. This seasonal route, also operated by a 787-9 Dreamliner, expands United’s service to Australia, which already includes Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL), and Brisbane (BNE). The new Adelaide route supports the region’s growing export of wine, agriculture, and specialty foods.
Additionally, United will increase the frequency of flights to Manila, Philippines (MNL), with a second daily flight beginning on October 25.
