United Cargo and SEKO Logistics Elevate with Sustainable Aviation Fuel

A Landmark Investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel

At United Cargo, our commitment to sustainability is evolving every day. We are proud to announce a significant step forward as SEKO Logistics joins forces with us through a multi-million-dollar investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)—one of our largest purchases to date. This strategic move reinforces our dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from air cargo operations and paves the way for broader industry transformation. As an active member of our Eco-Skies Alliance, SEKO Logistics is at the forefront of integrating lower-emission fuels within the logistics industry. SAF offers a remarkable advantage by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% on a lifecycle basis compared to conventional jet fuel.

"United Cargo is proud to support SEKO in their commitment to sustainability through the purchase of SAF. This initiative is a shining example of how we’re prioritizing environmental responsibility," said Jan Krems, President of United Cargo. He added, "By providing SAF, we enable our customers, like SEKO, to meet their environmental objectives while emphasizing the importance of sustainability in our operations. We are dedicated to advancing more sustainable logistics for a better future."

Driving Industry Change and a Sustainable Future

The impact of this collaboration extends beyond the initial investment. Thanks to SEKO’s commitment, United Cargo is now collaborating with new producers to provide SAF at key locations, such as Chicago O’Hare International Airport. "Together with SEKO, we’re proving that SAF is an available and viable solution for reducing emissions," explained Lauren Riley, Chief Sustainability Officer at United.

SEKO Logistics is also dedicated to achieving carbon neutrality across all its owned or controlled facilities and activities by 2050, with SAF playing a pivotal role in this strategy. By educating clients and facilitating their participation in more sustainable practices, SEKO is driving the transition to cleaner energy sources industry wide. "By empowering our clients to actively participate in carbon reduction through SAF, we’re not just achieving our own goals—we’re igniting a larger movement within the logistics industry," said Brian Bourke, Global Chief Commercial Officer of SEKO Logistics. "This initiative is a vital step in making cleaner energy sources a reality for everyone involved."

At United Cargo, our mission remains clear: connecting products to people worldwide with fast, efficient, and reliable services. Our collaboration with SEKO Logistics stands as a testament to our shared dedication to reducing greenhouse gas emissions throughout our value chain and our ongoing mission to usher the aviation industry toward a more environmentally responsible future.
