Restrictions in Central Florida due to Hurricane Milton – Update #2

Hurricane Milton made landfall in Central Florida overnight cutting power to millions and dropping historic amounts of rain. As a result, we are extending our restrictions for Tampa International Airport (TPA). Effective immediately, TPA will remain closed until Monday, October 14. Operating hours will return to normal schedule on Monday at 05:00 EDT. Cargo currently in transit and destined for TPA during the closure period will be retained at the previous station, unless a reroute has been requested by the customer.

All other current freight facility restrictions will expire at the end of day. Please see the list below for operating hours at Central Florida United Cargo freight facilities:

  • Orlando international Airport (MCO) will reopen at 05:00 EDT on Friday, October 11.
  • Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) will reopen at 05:30 EDT on Friday, October 11.
  • Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) will reopen at 5:00 EDT on Friday, October 11.
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will resume all Specialty Products (LifeGuard, UAPremium, QuickPak, TempControl, UASecure, and TrustUA) beginning at 04:30 EDT on Friday, October 11.

Restrictions in Central Florida due to Hurricane Milton – Update #1

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall on the west coast of Central Florida in the next 24 hours. In preparation, United Cargo is placing restrictions at several freight facilities in the storm’s path due to dangerous weather conditions.

  • Miami International Airport (MIA) will have a delayed opening on Thursday, October 10.The freight facility will open at 08:00 EDT.
  • Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) will be closed on Thursday, October 10, and will reopen at 05:30 EDT on Friday, October 11.
  • Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) is currently closed and will reopen at 5:00 EDT on Friday, October 11.
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) will restrict all Specialty Products (LifeGuard, UAPremium, QuickPak, TempControl, UASecure, and TrustUA) on Thursday, October 10. Regular service will resume at 04:30 EST on Friday, October 11.

We anticipate resuming service at the times listed depending on the weather conditions. Any cargo currently in transit and destined for PBI and JAX during the closure period will be retained at the previous station, unless a reroute has been requested by the customer. Restrictions in Central Florida due to Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall on the west coast of central Florida on Wednesday, October 9. In light of this, United Cargo is placing restrictions at the freight facilities at Tampa International Airport (TPA) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). Effective 23:59 on Monday, October 7, through EOD Thursday, October 10, the United Cargo freight facilities at TPA and MCO will be closed due to expected hurricane conditions.

We will enforce complete restrictions on all inbound and outbound shipments across all commodities and United Cargo products during these restrictions. Any cargo currently in transit and destined for TPA and MCO during the closure period will be retained at the previous station, unless a reroute has been requested by the customer. We anticipate resuming services at both locations on Friday, October 11, 2024, and will only reopen the facilities when it is deemed safe. We will keep you updated on any further developments.
